Wedding Car Etiquette

Bride and Escort

Traditionally travel on their own to the ceremony. If bridesmaids, pageboys and/or mothers travel also, make sure you've booked a car with ample space so as not to crush the bride or her wedding dress. If the ceremony is only a short distance from the collection point your chauffeur could make two trips, possibly at no extra chare. Allowances must be made for extra journey times and local traffic conditions, otherwise book a second car. If the bridal part travel in a second car this should precede the Brides car to the ceremony. However the Brides car should lead from the ceremony to the reception with the Bride and Groom only, with the bridal party following.

The Groom

Wedding carsMay also have a car booked to take him, the best man and possibly the usher to the ceremony. This car should not upstage the Brides car. After the ceremony this car may be used for transporting bridesmaids, ushers and parents of the bride and groom. If the car is a third car it should follow behind both the Brides car and the Bridal part to the reception.

In modern times with the combination of traditional, religious, civil and ethnic ceremonies a variety of traditions can be combined to suit your own circumstances.
